Shameful! Yet Shameless!

Recent events have brought to mind the unsettling fact that so much can happen without bothering those who should be up in arms. The Trump administration, already proven to be the epitome of shamefulness and shameful behaviors has remained shameless all the shame. Er, same. So many horrible actions have been torpedoing the American public that complacency towards most atrocities has become the accepted reaction. How many times can one really be nauseous in one day?

But certain egregious acts are unforgivable. They must be protested or the person accepting the act risks losing or corrupting their soul. We can see that this has already happened with the entire Republican Party. Once, this was party of First Amendment Rights, Law and Order and Big Business. Now, the Republicans have assisted King Donald the Trump in shredding the Constitution, Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence in the same huge paper shredder. They have willingly gone along with the greatest fascist power grab since 1933's Adolf Hitler and his Nazis. And we know where that led to!

I'll list some of the worst things and who has remained silent when speaking out was the only decent course.

1. Tariffs: The power to tax is exclusively given to the Legislative Branch. What are our elected Senators and congressmen saying? NADA. Pure nada. That's Spanish for nothing, if you didn't know.

2. Freedoms of Speech and Assembly: Apparently Trump wants to punish protesters with prison. Maybe even deportation. Depends on his mood. Who's complaining? I hear crickets from the American Press. And Congress too, while we're at it.

3. Taking control of the California National Guard away from Governor Newsom. This is a clear violation of constitutional States' rights. Where are the forty-nine other governors? This should raise flags for all governors, Democrat or Republican. Are they golfing in Mar-A-Lago? Or having their nails done and their brains washed? Crickets, crickets.

4. Ejecting, throwing to the ground and handcuffing of California Senator Alex Padilla just for daring to question Homeland Security Secretary Noem? And then they lied to us about it. It is the constitutional duty of a Senator or Congressman to represent their state and to provide oversight over the federal government. Why are there over ninety Senators who haven't been totally outraged at such erratic government behavior? Why are there any congressmen agreeing with the Administration and applauding their actions? Again, crickets.

5. The destruction of American Medicine: Why is Organized Medicine so silent against the wanton stripping away of the great American healthcare system? Why is the American Academy of Pediatrics not up in arms about Bobby Jr's assault on vaccines, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), medical research and the Big Beautiful Boondoggle de-funding of Medicaid? Why is the AMA not screaming bloody murder when American cancer and HIV research have been ground to a halt and millions of American citizens are losing their healthcare? Why is the AMA silent when the Trump Administration now allows the VA system to refuse treatment to Democrats and unmarried men? Why is the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology not shouting obscenities when lack of abortion care is forcing some women into dangerous alternatives and leaves others bleeding to death in emergency rooms? Why are all the other physician groups, hospital groups and nursing groups just sitting back and allowing these actions occur without a word to the contrary. Crickets, my friends. Shameful crickets.

6. The use of US Military against American Citizens exercising their First Amendment rights? Where are the veterans organizations? What say the Generals? Why are the active military not refusing to do what amounts to domestic war crimes? In the Nuremburg Trials, the "I was just following orders" defense was not accepted. Why would anyone think it is acceptable now? Crickets upon crickets.

7. The coronation ceremony in Washington, DC on June 14, 2025. Why are so many people okay with spending $45+ million dollars and even more to repair road and structural damage caused by the military parade? Why is this not called out as Waste, Fraud and Abuse by the Military and other branches of government? Why is it fine to spend this amount on King Donald's birthday bash, yet not be okay to spend money to give the poor health insurance? The crickets have come home to roost.
